What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
We have participated in a wide range of business development and investor relations programs including local events (MichBio, SPARK, MVCA, Bioarbor) and national/ international meetings (Bio, Bioequity, JP Morgan, Cowen, Windhover, Defined Health, LES and others).

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our products are currently in clinical development stage.

Where did you find your first employee?
Our first employees came through networking with former co-workers and our investors.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We have raised over $107 million in capital from a global set of venture capital and investment groups including EDF Ventures (Ann Arbor), Sofinnova Partners (Paris), HealthCap (Stockholm), Alta Partners (California), TVM Capital (Munich), OrbiMed (New York), DAIWA Corporate Investment (Tokyo) and FSI (Paris).

It's often said that Metro Detroit and Michigan need to reinvent their economies to be competitive. Are we making those changes, and if so are we making enough of them or doing it fast enough?
Southeast Michigan has been a very good location for Cerenis. We have been able to attract top-quality employees with life science and biotech experience. As it continues to grow towards critical mass in biotech, Michigan will become even more attractive to employees and investors considering locating a biotech company here.

What do you see in southeast Michigan that other people who live outside the area don't?
Ann Arbor is a great place to live and work. A 10-minute commute can't be beat, with access to all of the university activities, schools, lakes, great restaurants, concerts and sporting events. From the business travel side, Detroit has direct worldwide flights, without the congestion / delays of the major metro areas.
