What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
We have been very fortunate to participate in the Blackstone LaunchPad program at Walsh College. The Walsh LaunchPad team has provided tremendous resources to Eldercompass.  Through our participation in the LaunchPad program, we have had opportunities to attend several Metro Detroit start-up seminars and workshops. Walsh College and LaunchPad have been awesome partners.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our first customer was a local baby boomer in search of answers to care for her elderly parent.  She was referred to us by a mutual friend. Our research tells us that 10,000 people will turn 65 every day for the next 10 years. These people, and their caregivers, need credible answers to the many questions that arise when seeking elder care.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We are not actively seeking capital at this time. Our current plan is to bootstrap, and to manage both growth and service quality carefully.

What are some of the advantages to doing business here?
Eldercompass is an online business, and as such, we are not restricted to any particular market.  However, Detroit is our home. Our family and friends are here. We are passionate about serving the people of this region, and making Metro Detroit a better place to live and work.

What advice would you give to someone who was thinking about opening a business here?
Pursue your passion. Resources, help and advice are all around you.

What do you see in Metro Detroit that other people who live outside the area don't?
A tremendous entrepreneurial spirit, backed by significant resources that are readily available to the aspiring business owner.
