What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
I attended Smart Start at TechTown, Wayne State University and I have received Great Lake Entrepreneur Quest coaching.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our first customer was a publicly traded bio-tech company. I met the business development manager at a meeting in San Diego.

Where did you find your first employee?
At Wayne State University.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
We have done it four times.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We have received federal and state grant awards. We need more venture capital funds for early stage development. In California, a friend raised money with just a power-point presentation for a bio-tech company.

What are some of the advantages to doing business here?
There are a lot of friendly supporters.

It's often said that Metro Detroit and Michigan need to reinvent their economies to be competitive. Are we making those changes, and if so are we making enough of them or doing it fast enough?
We are trying to do this with program like Smart Start at TechTown and providing help from entrepreneur champions at this program. I have very competent advisor at TechTown, Ms Merlotti, who works with us day and night to get presentations ready. Our laboratory moved to Michigan Life Science and Innovation Center in Plymouth a former Esperion/Pfizer laboratory. This place has more than 10 small- and mid-size companies which collaborate on developing novel products.
