What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
Ann Arbor SPARK Entrepreneur Boot Camp, Michigan Universities Commercialization Initiative, Great Lakes Entrepreneurial Quest and several others.

Where did you find your first employee?
At the University of Michigan.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We have received capital from the Michigan Universities Commercialization Initiative, University of Michigan, angel investors, Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund, along with contracts with pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

What are some of the advantages to doing business here?
We have engineering and life science talent, along with the resources of the universities and hospitals in helping to develop medical devices and conducting clinical trials. There are also the local organizations that assist entrepreneurs in developing companies, including Ann Arbor SPARK and Great Lakes Eentrepreneurs Quest.

What could local leaders do to help attract and retain more entrepreneurial young people to Metro Detroit?
There needs to be more emphasis on retaining young talent in Michigan and exposing them to what is currently going on. This means that there needs to be programs in place to encourage entrepreneurial organizations to interact with the universities in recruiting undergrad and grad students. For example, the Innovation Open Houses program that exists in Boston would be a great idea to be implemented in Michigan.
