Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
In May 2010, Adeona entered into a $17.5 million corporate partnership with Sweden-based Meda AB, to develop flupirtine for the treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome. In total, Adeona's clinical development programs have been awarded over $10.5 million in grant funding.

Where did you find your first employee?
Steve Kanzer, Adeona's first employee was the company's co-founder. He continues to be involved with the company as a major shareholder and a board director.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
To date, we have not employed an intern, but would welcome the opportunity.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
Adeona is publicly-traded on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX: AEN). The company has primarily financed its operations through proceeds from equity financings and various private financings, corporate partnering license fees and to a lesser extent from the proceeds from the sale of our common stock under our registration statement on Form S-3, diagnostic laboratory testing revenues and miscellaneous equipment sales.

Name an idea, policy or mindset from elsewhere that you would like to see this region adopt?
There is so much potential for a thriving life science sector in Michigan that would employ a growing number of high wage employees. With institutions like the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University and Van Andel Institute, the continued growth of the life science sector within Michigan should be encouraged and fostered.

What do you see in Metro Detroit that other people who live outside the area don't?
For decades, automobile manufacturing has been the primary focus for Southeast Michigan and little thought was put into economic diversification. However, the biotechnology sector in Michigan is larger than most people may know. Michigan also has four distinct and gorgeous seasons and with the Great Lakes nearby, water is plentiful. Many people outside the area are probably not aware that Detroit has a great airport.
