Rozenberg  got an economics degree from Wayne State University in 1988 and while he operated an automotive service business, Sam's Detail Shop, first in Berkley, then Farmington Hills. Concurrently, Rozenberg spent a 12-year stint in the Michigan Army National Guard, where he became a major and served as an informal IT/automation officer, getting his first experience with computers.
