Business Offers Electrical Service, Bi-Lingual Staff

Rogelio and his brother Raul Aguilera started Aguilera Electric in 1983 after realizing that their part time, after-hours electrical past time was earning more money and using more spare time than their 9-5 jobs were allowing.

As a family oriented business, their cousin Tony Aguilera was hired as their first official employee. Aguilera Electric provided a much needed service to the Detroit Latino Community by providing dependable electrical work, reasonably priced services, and bi-lingual staff. Later changed to Real Electric Inc., Latinos in the city of Detroit found trust and satisfaction in the company knowing they could call the office and their services could be explained in Spanish.

Raul Aguilera’s wife Maria, whom he married in Mexico in 1999, works as the office administrator. After working for several years and saving the profits, they managed to purchase a building for an office and vehicles.

Real Electric Inc. was recognized by several larger construction companies in Detroit as valuable electrical subcontractor in metro Detroit area, working on projects for O’Brien Construction Company, Jenkins Construction, Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance (D.C.P.A.), and Southwest Housing Solutions.  The company was instrumental in projects such as Ser Casa, the Ferndale Library, and projects on Belle Isle.  They have also worked to promote projects for low-income and homeless citizens, and urban revitalization and beautification in Detroit.

Sadly Raul Aguilera passed away in 2007, after fighting leukemia.  Rogelio and Maria continue to operate the business that he began with his brother in the early 80’s, now having grown into a 12 employee operation.

Today, al Electric Inc. services the Detroit community as well as several of the Metro Detroit suburbs. There is a bi-lingual staff ready to help the client, and a team of experts in estimation, planning, and supervision of both large and small projects.
