What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
I have a business Administration degree from Wayne State University. I started my first business, an online based modeling agency called Imperio Models, at 14.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
My first customer ever was my mother. I designed her first website while I was still in high school. Most of my business is still from referrals. I am creating a turn-key social media product for individuals and companies without the human resources to manage their networks and presence.

Where did you find your first employee?
My first employee was a friend who grew into more of a partner than an employee.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
I have not yet promoted an intern into employee status but intend to within the next three months. I plan on establishing an intern program to get recent grads placed in permanent positions, some of those positions will be within my firm.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We maintain very low overhead at BTO Solutions, so we have never had to look for outside capital.

What could local leaders do to help attract and retain more entrepreneurial young people to Metro Detroit?
Show them the value of staying in Detroit. First and foremost is jobs, if they can get employed here they will stay. Another issue is culture, the Metro Detroit area is a melting pot of different cultures that have created a unique and enriching environment. Unfortunately, it's not so apparent to youth that have preconceived notions about various areas. Lastly, fun. We need to show them that Detroit is a place they want to live, work and play. One of the goals of my event, Social Media is a Party!, is to introduce recent grads to the possibilities that exist in their backyard.

What is one thing Michigan does better or has going for it that other more successful regional economies don't?
The state has warm people, determined spirits and grounded individuals. The reason I moved back was for the people. We make up this city and there is nowhere like Detroit.
