Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our first practice customers were local surgeons in the Detroit metropolitan area looking for highly personalized solutions with local support. Today gloStream serves doctors located throughout the country representing a diverse array of specialties.

Where did you find your first employee?
I was the first team member recruited by gloStream's founders Yaw Kwakye and Milind Ghyar. I was attracted to the opportunity because it was a chance to tackle the healthcare challenge and therefore help solve a very difficult problem, and at the same time do something tremendously positive. I was also very much attracted to the passion and vision that our founders showed me early on, and continue to exhibit today.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your business and which institutes have provided it?
We've looked to local and regional Angel and venture capital investors and are proud to say that we have investments from both. Beringea, which is one of the Midwest's largest VC firms, is one of our investors and also has representatives on our board of directors. Their investment and counsel have been critical to our growth.

It's often said that Metro Detroit and Michigan need to reinvent their economies to be competitive. Are we making those changes, and if so are we making enough of them or doing it fast enough?
Michigan has a great talent pool, it's a wonderful place to live, and the geography is very good for any company looking to do business nationally. We've also received great support from state and local government. From a business perspective we can make it even better by rewarding businesses that are innovating and helping to diversify the current economy to make it more knowledge-based.

If you could change one thing about the region what would it be?
We need to continue to invest in, and support companies that are innovating and helping to grow the new, knowledge-based economy. If we can really get behind that idea as a region, businesses here will be well positioned for long term success and that will positively impact all of us who live and work here.
