What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
Automation Alley, MIT's Advanced Study Program for Business. I've attend several entrepreneurial events/webinars/courses. I also surround myself with other entrepreneurs to learn.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Well, our first customer was seven years ago when our primary business focus was a building, and deploying world-class websites and integrated measurement strategies for our clients. The first client was MySassySassy, a fashion company for women's shoes.

Where did you find your first employee?
Through friends in the industry.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We haven't up to this point, however, we're are starting to look into the Michigan Economic Development Corp and Sequoia Capital for first-round funding to help build out our Connecting the DOTS platform.

It's often said that Metro Detroit and Michigan need to reinvent their economies to be competitive. Are we making those changes, and if so are we making enough of them or doing it fast enough?
I believe Michigan is taking the necessary steps to evolve but I don't think we're doing it fast enough. To reinvent itself, Michigan needs forward thinking companies with the passion, audacity, and commitment to build a state that drives innovation, growth/profitable economy, and sustainability.

What do you see in Metro Detroit that other people who live outside the area don't?
Opportunity. Michigan is full of potential but in many cases limited by the people and organizations running it. Entrepreneurs like me that have the vision, strategy, passion, and willingness to make a difference can only take it so far. The opportunities will come for those outside the state if the state itself can provide the vision and articulate it well.
