What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
We have not participated in any formal programs of this nature.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our first customer was Brogan & Partners, a marketing company located in Southeastern Michigan. We are proud to say that they remain a customer today.

Where did you find your first employee?
Our first employee was Patrick Fehring, President & CEO. We think of Pat as our visionary, starting the bank with zero dollars in assets. Today, we have grown to 470 million in assets. Pat worked to hire a small team when he began this journey; mostly through networking and using his experience in banking to draw people with an entrepreneurial spirit, willing to take a risk for a rewarding future.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
We have promoted an intern to a full-time financial specialist position. Joseph Doman came to us as a college student looking for a good internship position job from which he could gain experience for his upcoming career. We loved Joe's work and offered him a role on the finance team even before he graduated.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
Our capital has been raised primarily from successful local business leaders and entrepreneurs who continue to share in the vision of starting a new and better bank. Our friends and family also participated. Raising capital for a growing bank is critical and we are thankful for all of those who believe in us and our mission of unparalleled service. We are a bank with the sophistication of a big bank, the heart of a community bank and the spirit of an entrepreneur.

What are some of the advantages to doing business here?
The Level One Bank team sees Southeastern Michigan from a special perspective, a very positive perspective. Our market is full of diverse clientele and businesses. It's a rich tapestry of commerce. Our four season climate is a gift and with each season comes a surge to specialty businesses and tourism. Southeastern Michigan is an urban center with 90 billion in deposits. For Level One Bank, our market was in need of a locally owned, willing and able bank lender to service existing, new and promising companies.

If you could change one thing about this region, what would it be?
We love helping change the image of Southeastern Michigan. It's underappreciated. If it could only be seen by the rest of the country through our eyes.
