Karyn McCray

What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
I have participated in SCORE, Google Workshop, LifeLine Business Consultant Services, Open City, TechTown Entrepreneur Seminar for Marketing Research, Crowdfunding Seminar w/Jack at TechTown, Blackstone Launch Pad Funding Symposium.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Sheila at TechTown.

Where did you find your first employee?
I don't have one yet, but ideally I would like to hire someone with a leasing background when I do.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
I have not yet but plan to in the near future. Chances are I will go through micro enterprises.

What do you see in Metro Detroit that other people who live outside the area don't?
I see the big, subtle changes in the city. The reason I call in big and subtle is because no matter how small the changes are it's a big deal to me. Every time I see an expansion of the RiverWalk, that's huge to me, or the repaving of a street the was hardly used in the past, but heavily used now, that's huge; buildings being renovated, and new construction in downtown Detroit makes my heart smile. I think it's only a matter of time before the rest of the city and neighborhoods reap the benefits.

What is one thing Michigan does better or has going for it that other more successful regional economies don't?
I think we work better together than any place else that I know of, people seem to be willing to pay it forward. The determination to bring this city back is so evident.
