What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
We regularly take part in the Small Business Innovative Research program. We have often utilized the Michigan Initiative on Student NASA Exploration Research program through the University of Michigan to provide internship opportunities for current and former students.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our first contract was a Small Business Technology Transfer through the Small Business Innovative Research program with the U.S. Air Force.

Where did you find your first employee?
The first full time employee of ElectroDynamic Applications, Inc. was a graduate student of the company's president.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
We have done this four times, each being an intern we found through the Michigan Initiative on Student NASA Exploration Research program.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We have been almost completely customer funded. Additional funding has come from internal funding and as necessary draws from a small line of credit.

What could local leaders do to help attract and retain more entrepreneurial young people to Metro Detroit and what is one thing Michigan does better or has going for it that other more successful regional economies don't?
Michigan's Technology Tri-Corridor has helped encourage and given the assistance necessary for many start-ups to get off the ground. The funding has helped Michigan develop a real community of entrepreneurship. This has given the opportunity to new graduates to be a valued and contributing part of that community while it is still growing. If local leaders continue to communicate these opportunities, the youthful ingenuity of recent graduates, coupled with the experience of veteran executives, will lead to a bright future for all of Michigan, starting right here in Metro Detroit.
