Jim Graziano

Describe your staff?
We have 12 team members, consisting of a marketing strategist, business development manager, website and graphics designers, copywriters, sales lead generators, sales and a business manager. Together we form a strong scalable team to help companies diversify into new markets and gain new customers in current markets.

What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
One that I would highly recommend is the MI-SBTDC Venture Forward Program. This is an exceptional 10-week course for second-stage companies.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our first customer was a robotic tool engineering design firm in Troy. The initial sales lead came from our internal business telemarketing service. We worked with them for several years until they were purchased by a larger firm. Services we provided included establishing a strong marketing identity, prioritizing growth opportunities, building a strong Internet presence and generating qualified sales leads.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We have a business loan with a local bank.

What advice would you give to someone who was thinking about opening a business here?
Take the time to establish a strong business and strategic marketing plan. Carefully identify your target markets, your value proposition, and how you are going to communicate with your prospective customers. Take advantage of the excellent programs offered by MI-SBTDC. Become active in one of the numerous networking association groups that are in the area.

What do you see in Metro Detroit that other people who live outside the area don't?
This is an excellent time to be in business in Metro Detroit. The local economy is bouncing back and providing lots of business opportunities. Many company business owners are very optimistic and are in a fast-track-growth mode. Southeast Michigan also has a strong cultural base of art institutes, parks, lakes, museums and communities. There are excellent public and private schools, as well as world-renown universities such as the University of Michigan. Combined with the relative low cost of living, it is an excellent place to launch and grow your business.
