What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
I haven’t participated in anything formal, just the school of hard knocks.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
We partnered with Starcom for our five-station pilot. They took a chance on us, and brought a number of key clients like GM and Allstate to the table -- both of whom I am happy to say are still great partners today.

Where did you find your first employee?
After the founding partners, our first employee was the finance controller. She is still with us today. A friend in the financial community referred our CFO.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
We have converted more than 10 independent contractors to employees.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
Our lead investor's firm is IZI Media.

What are some of the advantages to doing business here?
There is great talent in the metro Detroit area, really diverse -- perfect for a media company like Gas Station TV. We have tech people, media people, finance and general business. They all come with that hard-working Detroit attitude.

If you could change one thing about this region, what would it be?
There do need to be more incentives to do business in the region. It's a shame that the film industry incentive was slashed. It might not have been perfect, but was a huge ego boost for the region, and should have been reworked, not killed.
