Brian Yessian

What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
We participate in educational seminars from time to time with the universities and schools state-wide.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
This is going back almost 40 years, but it would be my dad telling me when he was playing a gig up in Traverse City when he was approached to write music for a TV commercial.

Where did you find your first employee?
Probably somewhere along Woodward Ave.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
Yes, five times now. It has been a very successful method for us.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
All of our capital has come from self funding and at certain times bank loans through Comerica Bank if needed.

What are some of the advantages to doing business here?
We have found some great young talent here, especially through Wayne State University. There are also a number of great composers, musicians and sound mixers that we have utilized in the Detroit area. The other advantage is the cost of living/rent compared to places like NYC and LA. It helps us keep some of our expenditures in line with the industry.

What advice would you give to someone who was thinking about opening a business here?
This is a great time to invest in the Detroit region. Living standards are high while the costs are low. There are some amazing spaces available for the artist community and an opportunity to grow business.
