Bill Stacy

What educational, entrepreneurial or business development programs, if any, have you taken advantage of?
Intern of Michigan is used heavily by us, but nothing other than that.

Who was your first customer and where did you find them?
Our first customer to advertise was The Russell Bazaar. We share the Russell Industrial Center with them and support them greatly and sponsor their events as well.

Where did you find your first employee?
All of our first employees were founding members that saw the need for this type of site in Detroit. All original employees are still with the company and our staff is increasing.

Have you promoted an intern to employee status, and if so how many times have you done it?
Yes, we have promoted interns to employees. We have been very lucky with our interns. Every one of them has been extremely intelligent and we would have hired even more of them if we had the budget for it.

Where have you turned to find capital to grow your company and which institutions have provided it?
We have used advertising space as our lead source of income. This in turn has been used by us to pay for advertising through television and radio. We have many advertisers on our site and many new advertisers express interest daily.

It's often said that Metro Detroit and Michigan need to reinvent their economies to be competitive. Are we making those changes, and if so are we making enough of them or doing it fast enough?
This is a great question and I believe the answer is yes. DoDetroit is trying to be a catalyst in these changes by providing the public with positive news about the city. We believe the time is now and it is up to us to make that difference.

If you could change one thing about this region, what would it be?
We need reliable public transportation. Metro Detroit as a whole would benefit from this and I look forward to this becoming a reality here.
