High Growth Happy Hour: Funding to Scale

We’re pleased to announce a very special High Growth Happy Hour on funding as part of Startup^Scaleup and The New Economy Initiative. We’re bringing together Metro Detroit's fastest growing and talented entrepreneurs to connect casually with those who have successfully scaled their companies in our region.

We're welcoming a special out of town guest Sean Ammirati, serial entrepreneur and investor, along with local entrepreneur Jason Raznick Founder & CEO of Benzinga in Downtown Detroit.

Both Jason and Sean have had fascinating journeys scaling in the world of media and technology. Jason Raznick previously founded two successful internet companies prior to Benzinga, a financial technology media company. In the first five months, Benzinga grew to over 50k active members. Benzinga currently serves over 3 million readers in over 125 countries each month and has been featured in CNBC, Fox Business, NPR and Wall Street Journal.

Sean Ammirati joined Birchmere Ventures as a partner in 2012. Prior to that, he spent a dozen years founding, building and selling businesses in the software and media industries. Sean was previously Chief Operating Officer of ReadWriteWeb, one of the most influential sites about the future of technology and innovation. In December 2011, the company was acquired by SAY Media to strengthen its technology channel. Sean was previously co-founder and CEO of mSpoke, which was the first acquisition of LinkedIn. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University and author of the upcoming book The Science of Growth (St. Martins April 2016).
