Franco Public Relations adds 2 employees, 6 clients, expects to hire 3 more

Franco Public Relations Group has made its home and grown in downtown Detroit for 45 years, and the Ren Cen-based firm expects to stay on that road to success for a while yet.Lately the 17-person firm has added two new employees in the last year and expects to bring three more on by the end of the year. That's largely thanks to adding six new clients so far this year, rounding out its client list to 33."It's a pretty weird economy right now, but as hard as things are we're still landing clients," says Maria Leonhauser, president and co-owner of Franco Public Relations Group. "There's still a need for our services."The company's newest customers represent a diversification of its client base. There are the normal automotive-based firms, such as Kiekert Automotive, which makes door latches. Then there are some service-based companies such as Forbes Tax Advocates and the Milford Downtown Development Authority. There are a few non-profits, such as Arbor Hospice and Covenant House Michigan, which works with at-risk and homeless youth. And on top of all of that is Feld Entertainment, a production company for live performances like Disney On Ice and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey."From a diversification angle it's terrific," Leonhauser says.Source: Maria Leonhauser, president and co-owner of Franco Public Relations GroupWriter: Jon Zemke read on…

Franco PR Group hires in Renaissance Center

Employees at the Franco Public Relations Group have been coming to work in the Renaissance Center since the day it opened and more of them are making that trip this year thanks to the firm's recent hiring spree. The 46-year-old company has hired three people in the last year, bringing it's staff to 15 people and an intern. It plans to hire another 1-2 people before the end of the year, and more potentially next year. Maria Leonhauser, president of Franco Public Relations Group, credits the company's recent growth to its long-time stability and expanding client base."We really listen to what the needs are and do them," Leonhauser says. "We have an amazing team and an amazing culture."That culture revolves around how the company handles its work in public relations, corporate events, community relations and crisis work. Franco Public Relations Group focuses on breaking down silos in the company so members of it's team work (and play) together instead of competing against each other. That philosophy has helped the company get through tough times, and Leonhauser sees it paying significant dividends now that the economy is starting to rebound."There is a bubble of optimism happening," she says. "There is a sense we can breathe deeply again."Source: Maria Leonhauser, president of Franco Public Relations GroupWriter: Jon ZemkeRead more about Metro Detroit's entrepreneurial ecosystem at SEMichiganStartup.com. read on…
