Retiree turns entrepreneurial with BC Global electric motor company

Retirement wasn't a door closing on Jerry Cohen's working life. It turned out to be a door opening to a whole new career.The Metro Detroit-based senior citizen retired from managing an electric motor repair company at age 62. A few years later, in 2004, he got bored and decided to cash in his golden years for another shot at working, starting his own company called
BC Global Sales
."I retired too young, and got tired of doing nothing," Cohen says. "When you're retired, you're retired. You don't have any new stories to tell."The Warren-based company specializes in importing electric motors from Europe. It employs Cohen and his partner and the occasional intern. Cohen doesn't plan on expanding the company to any great extent. To him, it's his reason to get up and enjoy life by working with other people who are living it to the fullest."They're so young and alive," Cohen says. "Their approach is so different than mine. It's refreshing."
