Arbor Networks is preparing to make an $8.7 million-dollar expansion to its Ann Arbor office, an expansion that has already begun at the staff level with 10 new hires over the last year.
The University of Michigan spin-out, which has been
acquired twice in recent years, specializes in IT security, specifically for network security and data centers. The firm handles network security for about 70 percent of U.S. service providers. It is now headquartered in Massachusetts but maintains a research and development center in Ann Arbor.
"Ann Arbor has been and will continue to be our key core of excellence for the company," says Kris Lamb, vice president of
Arbor Networks.
The firm's expansion project will add 10,000 square feet to its office, a 40 percent increase in space that could accommodate 40 more people in addition to its current Ann Arbor staff of 80.
"We have a number of openings that we are trying to fill for 2011," Lamb says.
